Monday is Día de San Valentín, or Día de los Enamorados, or Día del Amor y de la Amistad, or Día de Comer Muchos Chocolates. Have a good one.

Presumably in honor of this day (?) Telemundo’s going to end their afternoon rerun of Pasión de Gavilanes and begin the new season at 10pm.

Also on Monday, UniMás is starting a rerun of Lo que la vida me robó at 9am.

Tuesday at 1pm, Telemundo begins a rerun of Bajo el mismo cielo at 1pm.

Well, we finally made it to February.

The only thing I’m watching on cable is 2-hour episodes of Hercai. I have to give this show props for reveals that raise more questions than they answer.

The funk continues.

Malverde ended Wednesday, pushing Hercai back to two hours a night until Pasión de Gavilanes 2 starts on 2/14.

I think they left the door open for a spinoff of Malverde, but if it never happens I’m sure not gonna mind.

It did leave me thinking I need to study Mexican history more, but the only thing harder lately than finding a show to really sink into is finding a book to read. Any recommendations?

Is it just me, or are we in a major telenovela rut? Or is it Covid blues?

If a look at the Proximas list has left you confused, it’s not you. Univision/Televisa and Netflix/Caracol really are producing dueling Vicente Fernandez bioseries.

Another season of Exatlón starts Tuesday on Telemundo.

Madre takes over from La Desalmada on Tuesday as well.

Happy New Year! We can now begin accidentally writing “2021” for the next six months.

Merry Christmas if you celebrate and Happy Holidays in general. I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones have loaded up on vaccines for Covid, flu, pneumonia, and whatever other thing you definitely don’t want to catch from whoever you’re hanging out with. Fistbump of solidarity to everyone staying home for whatever reason.

Mi marido tiene familia is starting on Monday on UniMás afternoons.

Hercai’s move to 2-hour episodes means two cliffhangers a day instead of one. It has a wrapping-up feel, but still very slowly.

Malverdes gotta Malverde. I do have to give the show some credit for having multiple female characters who enjoy sex and are not villains. Unfortunately, the show’s not really about them and they keep bringing it back to this Malverde guy.

The Vicente Fernandez bio-novela starring Jaime Camil looks like it’s a go.

I’ve been obsessed with a crochet project and I keep watching those Netflix romantic Christmas movies to keep me company. They’re pretty much as advertised and leave me with plenty of brainpower to focus on how I can make the yarn do what I want it to, even if I haven’t made that happen yet.

So, what’s new with you?

Hercai is moving to 8pm/7c and giving us two-hour episodes. Por amor o por dinero will only air for an hour a night. Changes start Monday.

As of now, the only new show we know about is Pasión de Gavilanes 2 starting in February.
